Wonderful Stage, great teacher, great food, many games played...

Highlights: Sashka (2k) beat Csaba Mero (6dan) in a variant of go: magnetic-go. We had Fondue ! A group of people went to the top of Mont Racine.

European Professional Go League

The Top European Players attending the 54th European Go Congress have decided to create a Professional Go Organisation in partnership with EuroGoTV. The European Professional Go Organisation will run a European Professional Go League, a year long competion that provides professional status for 12 top european players every year.

Switzerland was present with 4 players: Thomas 5-5 from Zurich, Conny 4-6, Andreas 6-4 and Daniil 5-5 from Basel. They scored 20 wins and 20 losses, Switzerland against the rest of the World, a very neutral result :). More then 500 players have participated. Ilya Shikshin is the European Champ 2010, Artem Kachanovskyy made 2nd and Catalin Taranu 3rd / 6th. Kim Chaelim from Korea made third in the open tournament.

Daniel @ 31st World Amateur Championship

Daniel Baumann represented Switzerland at the WAGC in Hangzou, China. The List of the participants and the results. All news and reports excellently written by James Davies and Chris Garlock are on the Ranka Blog! The IGF has a new President. It's the chinese Chang Zhenming.
Daniel did well with 3 wins on 8 games. He could not win against a dan player, but he finished one of the best kyu players. See this forum thread for Daniel's tournament details.

AGM 2010

The general Assembly of Swiss Go Association took place during the Swiss Championship, in Lausanne EPFL. Important changes are the membership fee for members is now 30 CHF / year (15 CHF for students, AVS, ...). The swiss representant to WAGC will receive help to pay his flight ticket, up to 400 CHF, and the president was given the mission to update the statutes of the association.
